Daylight Tyranny

i don't know if i've mentioned it before, but i've got a new job now. sunday mornings, arrive at 7:30am, play 3 masses, for hopefully, 2 months ... maybe more. the problem with this, of course, is that i also have early saturday morning job also, at the office. not only that, i have to start factoring practice time into my daily schedule ... which makes my overall project time low.

i don't like that.

i don't know if it's just me, but i absolutely detest mornings. when i was little, this was when i had to wake up. when i got older, this was when i had to go to bed. i can be the personification of productivity between midnight and the morning, but when the natural light starts coming through my window, i just pass out. i don't like being sleep deprived, but i'm so often sleep deprived, i've almost forgotten what it was like not to be sleep deprived.

i can hear you say ... why don't you just sleep earlier?

this week is a perfect example. to get in the habit of sleeping earlier (and waking up at an ungodly hour, to use a pun), i scheduled my car maintenance appointment at 7:30am, and i slept at 11pm last night. i woke up at 1am, 3am, 5am, thinking that i was late, and each time i woke up in horror, i realized that my alarm hasn't gone off yet, and that i was so many hours early. when it came time to wake up, of course, i was dead tired, since i didn't get any sleep the previous night.

why can't early morning people just get along with late night people?
