Sorry for the late post ... I've been on a mini-vacation on my own. I don't think that many people would be seriously inconvenienced if i didn't update, but to the few that do check regularly, i apologize.
My mini-vacation started just like my new year's resolution ... started with lots of ideals and goals, and ended up not being able to do everything i wanted to do. it was a bit of a disappointment, but at the same time, i got to see and do a lot of things i wouldn't otherwise have done, so perhaps it was for the better.
i found a new korean resturant just across the street from my work place. it just started out, and they're having a 15% off special! the prices are around $1-3 more than what i would usually go for, but the portions are huge. the dinner i ordered came with the dinner entree, two appetizers, salad, kim chi AND soup. there is no way i could finish any dinner by myself in one go. i ended up buying 2 dinners over the course of my vacation, and made 3 meals out of it.
i also tried to use the toaster oven to make TV Dinners, seeing as how my mother thinks that microwaves are unnatural, and refuses to buy a new one after the old one broke. (we also found out why the old one broke... it was due to faulty wiring in the power outlet. it also half broke our toaster oven, but that's another story). not having a microwave is definitely an inconvenience. call me spoiled, but i can't heat up leftovers or defrost meat efficiently without a microwave. not having microwave this week was one of the biggest drawback to my mini-vacation, and it made me go out to eat a lot more times than i would have if i had a microwave.
i also caught up a bit on my anime. i started watching kasimasi ~girl meets girl ~. it's a shoujo-ai story that's about a guy, who upon rejected, hikes to the place where he first met the girl ... and ends up being hit by a spaceship. to make amends, the aliens a) reconstructed his pulverized body, but into a girl instead b) broadcasted her image all over the world. yes, i know it sounds like a really dumb story line, and i know one of my friends (who probably doesn't read this) will probably refuse to watch this show all just because of this really dumb story line ... but to me? i'll watch it. even if it's stupid ... i want to see what the producers and the network saw in this series that made it a worthy investment. that doesn't mean i watch all kinds of crap shows though ... there are still types of shows that i don't like.
all in all, i'll have to say that i enjoyed my mini-vacation. granted, it wasn't as glamourous or productive as i thought it'd be, nor was it as relaxing as i hoped it'd be ... but i had fun. i guess that's all that matters.
